Beaver activity surveys and practical beaver management training for members of the public living in and around the Blackdown Hills AONB, led by Jake Chant Devon Wildlife Trust’s Beaver Field Officer.

Jake Chant is the Beaver Field Officer for Devon Wildlife Trust. Jake monitors the beavers across the River Otter catchment and works with landowners to manage the impacts of beavers as and when it’s necessary to do so. In August 2020, the Government announced that the beavers can remain in the River Otter and spread naturally. The training sessions provide an opportunity for members of the public to learn how to identify beaver field signs and understand how to manage the impacts of beavers if necessary. There will be opportunities for further beaver volunteering in spring 2021.

On the 5th and 6th May there will be four sessions throughout each day, with each session being 1 hour long and  will be led by Jake Chant in person, in small groups of 5 around Otterhead Lakes. Booking is essential here.
