Volunteering at Young Wood community woodland
The group will be generally improving the site facilities for use by groups spending time in the forest for bush-craft and wood-crafts. We are aiming to improve habitats for wildlife, manage woodland in a traditional way, and improve the infrastructure of simple shelters and workspaces on the site.

Coldharbour Mill steam day
Coldharbour Mill was powered by steam from 1865 until its close in 1981. Spend a day with the Mill’s steam team stoking the boilers and running the engines. Adults: £14.30 Children: £8.25
Hemyock Castle open day
Hemyock Castle is a privately-owned residential site and a scheduled ancient monument. It is only open to the public on special open days on Bank Holiday Mondays (2 to 5 pm) between Easter and September.
Bat walk and talk
Join a local bat expert for a short illustrated talk about bats. There will then be a walk around Coldharbour Mill and the nearby River Culm to discover which species can be found in the area. Bat detectors provided.
Chardstock Street Fayre
A fantastic family day out with live music, stalls, and street entertainment.
Hedgelaying workshop
An event every month that begins at 9:00am on day First of the month, repeating until Saturday 2 February 2019
A hands-on, one-day workshop teaching hedgelaying in the Devon style.
Otterhead Lakes Heritage Open Day
Discover the history of the Otterhead Estate. While the Victorian house no longer stands, the former landscaped gardens and lakes have been transformed into a thriving nature reserve.
River Culm Fair and Soap-Box Derby
A day of fun for all the family with live music, a barbecue and bar. Take part in children’s activities and learn about the endangered crayfish living in the River Culm. Powered only by gravity, a selection of ingenious contraptions will be racing in the fabulous soap-box derby.
Hemyock Castle heritage open day
Hemyock Castle is a privately-owned residential site and a scheduled ancient monument. This heritage open day provides an opportunity to view the substantial remains of Hemyock Castle's towers, walls, moat, grounds; and visit its display areas.
