Scrapes and leaky dams built as part of the Connecting the Culm project

For the last two years ‘nature-based solutions’ (NBS) have been going in the ground and river channel along the Culm and its tributaries as part of the Connecting the Culm project. But what are these nature-based solutions? Why do we need them? And where are they? These questions will be answered at this online event (sign up here) by our guest speakers who are:

  • Jo Neville (National Trust) – brief introduction to what NBS are and why we need them, including an overview of NBS at National Trust Killerton.
  • Corrie Grafton & Zoe Smith (Westcountry Rivers Trust) – nature-based solutions along the wider Culm, what they look like and aim to achieve for the catchment’s future.

These presentations will be followed by a question and answer session.

In addition, during this online session there’ll be the opportunity to tell us about what you’ve been doing or would like to do with regards to working with nature along the Culm. At recent events and shows the CtC team has attended, we’ve learnt about what some people are already doing in the catchment, such as creating rain gardens, making ponds and thinking about installing green roofs –we’d like to build on that at this event with people who may not have been able to get out and about to in person events.
