A better future for the River Culm

For the first time, we are holding the Forum in person, gathering at Coldharbour Mill in Uffculme for an evening of discussion, learning and celebration, accompanied by wine and cheese (and local cider!).

We mark this occasion with a talk from Dr Antony Firth about his research into the history of the River Culm and how identifying flood meadows, historic leats and cultural practices around historic water management can help us find solutions for the future.

We’ll also have an exhibition of Richard Carman‘s landscape art and visualisations produced for Connecting the Culm over the last 2 years.

This Forum also launches a new programme of “Catchment Connection” events that will be happening across the Culm and its tributaries through the summer months, culminating in our final Forum in October.

Plus, the Connecting the Culm team and volunteers will be there to talk over their work and share latest progress, in an informal setting where you can wander and explore at will. Stalls will include:

  • Farm advice
  • Citizen Science water quality monitoring
  • Himalayan Balsam Action Group
  • The Managing Big Problems (in small places) project
  • Community art work
  • Catchment Connections programme for the summer
  • The Blueprint and plans for it to go live online

The event is free but numbers are limited so do book your place now and we look forward to seeing you in person!
