Nature plays a vital role in our lives – supporting our health, wellbeing, and economy, and enriching the places we live. Across Devon and Somerset, efforts are underway to protect and restore the landscapes, habitats, and species that make these counties special.

Both counties are developing Local Nature Recovery Strategies (LNRS) – statutory plans that set out priorities for nature recovery and identify key areas for action. These strategies will help guide future decisions on land use, farming, development, and investment, ensuring that nature is considered alongside other needs.

Public consultations are now open, and everyone is invited to take part. Whether you’re a farmer, landowner, business, developer, agent, wildlife enthusiast, or resident – your views matter. The strategies are collaborative by design, and your input will help shape a shared vision for a more nature-rich Devon and Somerset.
