Noni’s Daddy rushed out of their roundhouse.
‘Where have you been?’ he shouted. ‘It is dark. I
have been so worried!’
‘I’m sorry,’ said Noni. Tears fell from her eyes again.
‘I’m so sorry, Daddy. I lost my knife.’
She explained how she had gone in search of clay,
iron ore and wood to prove that she could be a
blacksmith. When he saw the heavy load that Dum
Dum was carrying, her Daddy knew that Noni was
ready to learn.
‘I am sad that you lost your knife, Noni. But I am
very happy that you are back safe and sound,’ he
said. ‘Now let’s get to work.’
