Blackdown Hills AONB welcomes new manager

Tim has more than 20 years’ experience working in the environmental sector and joins the AONB from Somerset Wildlife Trust where he has been working as Director of Land Management.

His role will be to steer the strategic direction of the Blackdown Hills AONB Partnership, to manage the AONB staff team, and to work with partners, organisations and local communities to help conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Blackdown Hills.

Tim Youngs said:

 “I am delighted to be taking up this role, having collaborated with people in the Blackdown Hills AONB for a number of years. The Blackdown Hills is such a special place. I am very much looking forward to meeting everyone involved in the coming weeks and months, from the partner organisations through to the community groups.”

At the end of July the team said a fond farewell and thank you to the previous AONB manager, Linda Bennett, as she retired from the post. In the nine years she was with the AONB, Linda did much to ensure that the landscape and special qualities of the Blackdown Hills were both treasured and nurtured. With his many years’ experience in the field, Tim Youngs will certainly be taking on this mantle into the future.
